October 4, 2010 - Southern Oregon Media Group announced today that it will begin charging non-subscribers to the print edition of the Mail Tribune and Ashland Daily Tidings in October for online access to its comprehensive coverage of Jackson County.
Beginning October 19, 2010, MailTribune.com and DailyTidings.com will offer an on-demand Print + Online subscription. This new subscription combines the print edition, with our online news and information offerings to bring the consumer compelling local content not available anywhere else. An Online Only subscription will also be available for those who choose to access their news digitally. Current print subscribers will have online access available as part of their subscription. Subscribers will need to register for online access beginning October 19th. For more information subscribers can go to: www.mailtribune.com/preview or www.dailytidings.com/preview.
“Mailtribune.com and dailytidings.com have established their value with readers and advertisers in the communities they serve,” said Grady Singletary, president of Southern Oregon Media Group and publisher of the Mail Tribune and Ashland Daily Tidings. “This shift asks readers to recognize that value irrespective of whether they read the newspaper in print or online.”
“The community can continue to rely on the dedicated journalists who deliver the news and information that has made our newspapers and companion websites the preferred choice for news in Jackson County,” Singletary said. “We strive for balanced and representative reporting of the communities we serve. Importantly, the breadth and depth of unique content we provide daily about southern Oregon is not accessible just anywhere on the Web.”
The new subscription packages will combine the best of our print and digital news options. These new options are designed to meet the reader’s lifestyle and news consumption habits.
With a Print + Online or Online Only subscription, subscribers will have unlimited access to digital content via laptop, desktop, smart phone, simple text alerts and email, in addition to the daily newspaper. This will give the reader full content no matter how frequently they sign on. Without one of these subscriptions the number of times Southern Oregon Media Group content can be accessed will be limited.
